Research Assistant (Office of Education Research) [NIE]

The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Part-time Research Assistant on a 3-6 months’ contract at the Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC), Office of Education Research .

Project Title: LOVING (Learning about Our behavior is Valuable for Increasing Nurturing relationships and healthy Growth) – Development Phase

Project Introduction: The LOVING project will examine the impact of improving caregiver sensitivity to influence children’s executive functioning (EF) and emotional and physical wellbeing. In the Development Phase, we will adapt the O (Own-Video Feedback) from a well-validated program to improve sensitive caregiving (i.e., the VIPP-SD). The program includes seven home-based intervention sessions where caregivers receive individualized feedback based on their own video recordings of interactions with their children, and a post-intervention interview session.

Requirements

• Academic qualification :

Completed undergraduate degree or ongoing or completed graduate degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Nursing, and/or similar areas

• Work experience :
  • Prior experience conducting semi-structured interviews
  • Prior experience conducting qualitative analysis
     
• Desirable interests, skills, and attributes :
  • Proficiency and ability to conduct interviews in mother tongues preferred
  • Have good communication and organizational skills
  • Have good interpersonal skills
  • Be a good team-player, proactive, and able to work independently and with a large group of researchers

Responsibilities

• To conduct interviews with participants of the development phase of the intervention.
• To assist with qualitative analyses of interviews (transcribing, translation, coding)
• To perform other tasks as required by the Principal Investigators.
