Offer Description

SIT Health and Social Sciences (HSS) is seeking candidates for the position of a Research Assistant for the research study ‘Integrative Neuro-social cognitive Strategy Programme for Instilling REcovery (INSPIRE): a Community-Based Cognitive Remediation Trial”.

This study attempts to investigate the effects of cognitive remediation on neurocognition, social cognition and functional outcomes of persons with schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorders in the community mental health setting. It will be conducted in three community-based psychiatric rehabilitation centres. The Research Assistant is expected to work closely with colleagues at the three psychiatric rehabilitation centres, conduct outcome measurements and carry out all administrative procedures in accordance to research governance policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in and manage the research study with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. 
  • Undertake these responsibilities in the project:
  • collect baseline, post-intervention and follow-up outcome measurements
  • organise, store, and manage research data in accordance to proper governance
  • perform statistical data analyses
  • work with the research team to ensure that the experimental intervention is conducted with high fidelity.
  • Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
  • Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
  • Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper conduct of research procedures.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor with Honours degree in Psychology or Occupational Therapy from a reputable university.
  • Experience in research work in the field of mental health, particularly in cognitive remediation.  
  • Skills in organising research dataset, with the ability to conduct basic statistical analyses.
