The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), Architecture and Sustainable Design (ASD) pillar invites applications for the position of Research Assistant (RA) in Digital Planning Analytics.

We are starting an exciting new research project regarding the digital transformation of urban planning processes in collaboration with Singapore government and major built environment industry partners.

We seek for enthusiastic researchers interested in the design and development of computational analysis and design tools aiding the urban planning and building design processes.

The project start date is early January 2022 and will last for two years. There are two positions available with the first’s emphasis on data analytics and the second compliance evaluation.

Shortlisted applicant will be contacted for interview where they will be able to present their most relevant background work that can demonstrate their technical aptitudes as well as their ability to contribute towards the project’s objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Development of computer scripts for data extraction and pre-processing of existing building information modelling datasets and analysis of spatial, circulatory, and regulatory metrics.
  • Design of user interface for presentation and communication of analysis results with stake holders using web front-end technologies.

Job Requirements

  • Academic background in built environment such as architecture and/or engineering with Bachelor’s or Master’s qualifications or equivalent.
  • Experience in Building Information Modelling software such as Autodesk Revit, including understanding of its Application Programming Interface (API).
  • Experience in software development using C#, Python or equivalent, including knowledge of computational geometry, graph analysis and preferably machine learning.
  • Experience in basic web development techniques such as node.js and vue.js framework is desirable but not strictly required.
