We are seeking a highly motivated research assistant with a strong mathematical background and with strong programming experience, who is interested to explore new and/or non-traditional research directions in Artificial Intelligence. The successful candidate is expected to work closely with other team members.
The goal of this project is to develop an AI system with reasoning capabilities. This framework shall be based on methods from abstract algebra. As the project is already ongoing, a key role for this research assistant position is to help with computational experiments involving a new algebraic machine reasoning framework developed by our team.
Duration of position: 1 year.
Required: Bachelors degree in computer science, mathematics, or a data science intensive area.
Candidates with Masters degree are welcome to apply as well. Salary package will be based on both academic qualifications and relevant prior experience.
The candidate must have a strong understanding of algorithms, and must have strong programming experience in Python.
The candidate must have experience in deep learning.
The candidate must be open to learning new things (e.g. computational algebra).
Experience in using a computer algebra system (CAS) is a huge bonus, but not required.
An ideal candidate is passionate about mathematics and excited by the possibility of applying algebraic methods to problems in Artificial Intelligence, specifically in machine learning and machine reasoning.
Candidates with strong mathematical backgrounds are prioritized.
