Job Description

RESEARCH ASSISTANT / RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (ENVIRONMENTAL WATER MODELLING)

The Tropical Marine Science Institute (TMSI) invites applicants for the above posts.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

· Numerical modelling of coastal or inland water bodies.

· Carrying out modelling work to support climate change, environmental impact assessment.

· Data analysis and report writing.

SALARY

Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience. The appointment will be for a period of one year and extendable depending upon the candidate’s performance.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelor or Master Degree in Civil, Environmental or Coastal Engineering, Environmental Science or a related field.

· Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.

· Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

· Resourcefulness, independence and ability to learn fast.

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

· Good understanding of physical, chemical and biological processes affecting water quality is a plus.

· Programming experience in Python or Matlab (Optional; must be willing to learn on the job).

· Numerical modelling experience with software such as Delft3D, MIKE, XBeach, SWASH or similar (Optional; must be willing to learn on the job).
