Job Description
Research Assistant (Biology, Animal Studies)
We are seeking a researcher to work with a team of scientists to study the biological effects of ionization radiation using mice as an animal model.
Irradiation of the brain in early human life may set abnormal developmental events into motion that last a lifetime, leading to the development of different neurological and neuropsychological disorders. By working on post- or pre-natal irradiated mice, the candidate will have an in-depth understanding of the mechanism of disease genesis, explore detection methods of radiation, learn disease diagnosis techniques and develop novel therapy to prevent genesis of neurological and neuropsychological disorders from a long-term point view.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Oversee smooth running of a laboratory
- Evaluate health effect of radiation exposure in animal (rodent) or cell models.
- Do histology, immunohistochemistry and molecular biology work
- Culture brain cells to study the molecular mechanisms of radiation-induced abnormal brain changes.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a diploma degree in biomedical science or related disciplines
- 2 years of laboratory experience is preferable
- Familiar with small animal handling, histology and immunohistochemistry work
- Experience in molecular biological research work
- Good communication skills and a team player
- Other desirable attributes: self-motivated, organized, meticulous, efficient and flexible
Applicants should submit a cover letter, and a CV. Please plan to request at least three letters of recommendation.
