Research Assistant (Biological Science/Biomedical Engineering)

The Nanyang Technology University (NTU, PI: Asst Prof. Zhao Wenting) is seeking to recruit a Research Assistant for interdisciplinary studies of nanoscale cellular physics in mammalian cells using nanofabricated chips and high-resolution imaging. The project aims to elucidate cellular architecture changes during cell migration and aging.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop, run and implement scientific project on nanoscale protein distribution at nano-bio interface.

  • Assist research project under the direction of Principal Investigator or senior research staff, and present significant progress towards the deliverables.

  • Lead sub-projects and coordinate collaboration works.

  • Participate in writing scientific publications and grants. Review and current of literatures.

  • Collaborate with other team members, and supervise junior members.

  • Assist in general operation of laboratory including ordering supplies and maintenance

  • Train new laboratory personnel, students, and short-term visiting scientists

  • Comply with all laboratory safety standards and guidelines

Job Requirements: 

  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in Biological Science, Biomedical Engineering or related disciplines. Research backgrounds in super-resolution, nano-bio interface characterization, cell culture, transfection, immunostaining and related cellular and imaging assays are highly preferred.

  • Working experience in confocal microscopy, python or MATLAB-based image analysis, nanostructure-based cellular imaging are highly desired.

  • Highly motivated and dedicated to the development of the project.

  • Excellent laboratory, planning, and leadership skills.

  • Ability to integrate well into a team of researchers with different backgrounds, and the ability to learn new techniques.
