Research Assistants/Associates

The Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities at the Singapore University of Technology and Design is looking for full/part-time Research Assistants/Associates interested to join the project titled “Future-Ready Multi-Generational Workers Who Are Flexible and Fluid Across Sectors”.

This interdisciplinary project aims to strengthen our multi-generational workers’ resilience by empowering them to be flexible and fluid across existing and emerging sectors. Research assistants/associates will be required to work with potential partners (e.g. unions and social service organisations) to develop and pilot new career/work/gig pathways for multi-generational workers.

About Us:

The Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities (LKYCIC), established in 2012, is a research centre at the Singapore University of Technology and Design. LKYCIC aims to stimulate research on cities and urbanisation, and explore the role of technology, design and policy in providing urban solutions.

About the Position:

This position is ideal for someone who is excited about applied research and is looking to gain experience for a future career in research. Experience in working with persons with disabilities and/or elderly persons in the area of accessibility will be advantageous. You will:


• Design the scope and methods of data collection by multi-generational workers as part of their new career/work/gig pathways
• Support the team in training the multi-generational workers and standardising data collection processes, including researching and writing training guides
• Analyse the data collected and collaborate with partners to demonstrate its value
• Communicate research with public and private stakeholders and collaborators
• Assist to prepare manuscripts and reports for publication

Research Assistant/Associate position:
• A Bachelors or Masters in urban studies, geography, sociology or closely-related areas
• Demonstrated skills in quantitative analysis
• Willing to learn new research methodologies
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Sound organisational and data management skills
• Ability to converse in local mother tongue (Mandarin, Malay, Tamil, dialects) is a plus Persons with relevant experience but without the above qualifications are also welcome to apply.
