Research Associate/Assistant (Urban Environmental Sustainability)
The Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities at the Singapore University of Technology and Design is seeking a full-time Research Associate or (Senior) Research Assistant, to join a growing research team focusing on addressing critical urban environmental sustainability challenges.
Successful applicants will contribute to a project that applies a transdisciplinary approach to investigate individuals’ discounting of the impact of climate change in Singapore, and how we can use the everyday shared experience of urban heat to unlock pathways for addressing the inertia towards climate action.
Candidates should possess a strong interest in transdisciplinary research and urban environmental sustainability. Expertise in quantitative research methods and a background in social and/or behavioral science will be a plus.
This position is ideal for individuals interested in pursuing an academic/industry research career.
The candidate will be expected to:
- Conduct and write literature reviews
- Participate in fieldwork and data collection
- Contribute towards quantitative and/or qualitative data analyses
- Assist in the preparation of manuscripts and reports for publications
- Collaborate and communicate research updates with both internal and external stakeholders
- Support the team in project management of the research (e.g., budgeting, liaising with external collaborators, project administrative duties)
Skills and qualifications required:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree related to the social sciences, behavioural sciences, or environmental studies
- Demonstrable skills in quantitative and/or qualitative data collection and analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interest or knowledge in urban environmental sustainability
- Strong organizational and data management skills
- Proficiency with statistical software (e.g., STATA, R, SPSS) is a plus
