The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) invites applications for the position of Project Officer.

This is a Project Officer role which will focus on new generation of antibacterial polymers with novel mechanisms with diverse applications. The Project Officer is expected to work with chemists and engineers to develop novel antibacterial polymers, and study the mechanism of bacteria killing, and formulate antibacterial polymers for diverse applications.


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Perform literature study, participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.

  • Perform design of experiment, interpretation and analysis of data acquired.  Prepare technical reports for the program PI and present data at regular group meetings.

  • Draft research publication.  Drive own academic career development through networking and publication.

  • Ensure service and maintenance are carried out for the equipment in the lab.  Annual review of risk assessment and safety protocol for equipment operation, gas, and chemical usage.

  • Engage and communicate with industry partners for deployment of innovative technologies/solutions.

  • Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.

Job Requirements: 

  • Bachelor or above in either Polymer Physics, Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a similar field with a strong background in polymer materials and formulation.

  • Deep fundamental knowledge in areas such as polymer chemistry and physics, formulations, analytical techniques, and bacteria

  • An analytical mind-set with great problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, influencing, and project management skills with prior experience in cross-disciplinary team management.

  • Leadership style that engenders a positive collaborative culture, sustaining high performing and effective team.

  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural setting.
