About NUS Centre For the Arts

NUS Centre For the Arts (CFA) comprises the NUS Museum and NUS Baba House; the University Cultural Centre; and a Talent Development and Programming division that oversees 21 student arts excellence groups in music, dance, theatre and film. On campus and beyond, we take pride in providing opportunities for the appreciation of the arts and seek to champion creative possibilities and inspire strong communities through programming, exhibitions, workshops and outreach such as the University’s flagship arts event, the NUS Arts Festival and Singapore’s longest running arts outreach programme, the ExxonMobil Campus Concerts. 


Job Description

The Programmes Manager of the NUS Baba House is responsible for the conceptualization of content, and coordinating the execution for Baba House Programmes, including for the docent training programme, modules collaborations, schools visits, and other public programmes. Fulfilling common educational and outreach objectives of the Baba House and the NUS Museum, the Programmes Manager will also conceptualise and organise modules collaborations and visits, public programmes and other events.


Duties & Responsibilities

Baba House Programmes
* To conceive programmes together with BH Curator
* To execute programmes with NUS Museum Outreach team

Modules
* To conceive of module partnerships based on Baba House Architectural Conservation / Heritage / Archaeology / Material Culture
* To conceive of connected exchanges between Baba House and NUS Museum modules
* To execute and facilitate module visits at Baba House

Docent Training Programme
* To refine and conceive the curriculum content of Docent Training Programme
* To plan and execute docent training programme
* To develop curriculum material related to docent training programme

Baba House Education
* To conceive of packaged content for MOE school visits
* To execute Schools visit with NUS Museum Outreach Team


Requirements

* Preferably 3 years of relevant job experience in museums, libraries and galleries.
* Preferably has some prior experience in education, outreach and programmes development.
* Able to develop innovative programmes and engage with research
* Critical interest and knowledge of the Peranakan culture and community is essential
* Excellent spoken and written English
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
* Comfortable with public speaking, bilingual skills an advantage
* Proficient in IT, Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram
* Background in History, Philosophy, Literature, Southeast Asian, Asian or Chinese Studies is preferred
* Must be able to work weekday evenings and weekends
