Offer Description

To fulfil the objectives in the EU Pathfinder project Q-ONE, which requires (specifically for work package 3) theoretical calculations in the development and design of quantum neural networks based on exciton-polaritons.

-- Performance of theoretical simulations of quantum optical lattices. The theoretical models must be accurate as they will be compared to experiments (done by collaborators) and should account for driving (with arbitrary quantum states), dissipation, dephasing, nonlinear interactions, disorder and other imperfections.
- - Perform quantum optical simulations of exciton-polariton lattices and networks.
- Perform modelling of spatially patterned photonic heterostructures containing exciton-polaritons.
- Research the scientific literature, attend project meetings, disseminate results in peer-reviewed international journals, and present results at international conferences and schools.
- Manage research data, keeping it backed up in a data repository.

The Q-ONE project involves research groups in France, Italy, Belgium, Austria, and Poland. While the present position is funded by CNRS it will be physically based in Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, the location of the Majulab International joint laboratory. It will be necessary to have regular meetings with collaborators in Europe. This may sometimes require meeting online at unusual hours and occassionally travelling to Europe for physical meetings.

Additional Information
Eligibility criteria

A PhD in theoretical physics or a related subject and experience with numerical simulations.
Fundamental quantum optics. Experience with the simulation of density matrices in Fock space, simulations with quantum trajectories, phase space representations, finite-difference time-domain simulation, or alternative techniques
Researching the scientific literature, identifying and solving technical problems, writing scientific reports and papers, presentations at international conferences, working individually while also collaborating with other scientists (including experimental physics teams)
Project and data management; people management is not necessary
