Nanyang Centre for Public Administration invites applications for part-time teaching of the following course at the intermediate level:
- Environmental Economics and Sustainable Development
Requirements:
- PhD in a relevant field
- Teaching experience at a tertiary level or with adult learners and excellent teaching evaluation
- Knowledge in Environmental Economics and Sustainable Development; and has experience conducting experiential learning and multimedia course materials.
Teaching Requirement:
Duration: 3 hours per week for 13 sessions.
Course Objectives:
The course examines the theories and practices of leadership in environmental economic and sustainable development sector by exploring several key themes and topics. These include environmental economic; environmental pollution and control; global climate change; water crisis and solution; solid and toxic waste, air emission; the relationship between economy and sustainability; new resources including NEWater and waste-to-energy (WET) management: Singapore experience; water supply and resources in China; economic and political measures for sustainable development; environmental Kuznet’s Curve (EKC) hypothesis models; economic & financial evaluation of environmental projects including BOT, BOO, PPT; carbon emission and its potential impacts on economic activities; innovation, new technology, enterprise.
Teaching Outcome:
- Students should be able to understand the current environmental challenges: water and wastewater, solid and toxic waste, and air pollution
- Students should be able to understand the new sustainable environmental development strategies
- Nurture a passion for innovation and leadership in environmental sustainability
- Practice economic and financial approach for environmental project management.
