Part-Time Lecturer for Interactive Design

The School of Art, Design, and Media (ADM) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, invites qualified candidates to apply as Part-time Lecturer for Interactive Design: DM 3008 Generative Art Course

The Part-time Lecturer is expected to teach an undergraduate course commencing in August 2024

The Generative Art course is designed to immerse students in the art of creation through a blend of rule-based systems and elements of chance. It's a space where students can freely explore their artistic abilities using both traditional and digital mediums. The course aims to deepen students' understanding of generativity as a concept that transcends mediums, contributing significantly to media art and design. Participants will learn to harness various elements of unpredictability and use them to forge new strategies and methods for crafting their art pieces.

A key part of the curriculum involves getting hands-on with the visual development platform Derivative TouchDesigner. The course also offers exposure to a wide array of contemporary practices and aesthetic considerations, preparing students for the evolving demands of interactive media.

Successful candidates will have a Master's and/or Ph.D. in Interaction Design/ Media or a related field of study. Any past teaching experience at Undergraduate Level is preferred. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design/ Art, Creative Technologies or Computer Science with sufficient and relevant industry experience may also be considered in exceptional cases.
