Part-Time Lecturer for CC0007 Science and Technology for Humanity

We are seeking a part-time lecturer to teach a course entitled “Science and Technology for Humanity”, required of all undergraduates as part of NTU’s Interdisciplinary Collaborative Core (ICC). This course examines the social, economic, and political impacts of science and technology and encourages students to engage with societal problems from a broad interdisciplinary perspective, drawing on both STEM and non-STEM disciplines.
The candidate will focus on interdisciplinary and collaborative curriculum and to develop students into future-ready graduates. His/her responsibilities include:

  • Facilitates and conducts all teaching assignments, both face-to-face and virtual delivery
  • Continuously improves curriculum plans, course outlines, evaluation procedures and instruments to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensure student engagement
  • Supports course administration such as course evaluation, online course materials, attendance records, academic counselling on student progress
  • Conducts assessments, marking and grade entries, feedback to students, student consultations, non-academic matters etc.
  • Provides regular course and student progress statistics for reporting and strategic decision making
  • Demonstrates values and principles of professional conduct in all endeavours
  • Any other assigned duties

Requirements:

Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
 

  • MA or PhD training across STEM and humanities and social science fields
  • Training relevant to one of the course topics (e.g., the future of work, Al and robotics, life science, biology, technology’s role in rebalancing power, transformations for health and wellbeing, etc.)
  • Teaching and mentoring experience is preferred
  • Interest and/or proficiency in technology-enhanced learning (e.g., developing online learning activities and assessments, creating lectures to be streamed online)
