Job Description

This role serves as the main officer for conduct and dispute resolution across campus. The role leads on all efforts related to sexual assault prevention and outreach on campus, including the management of the sexual misconduct discipline process and the Kingfishers for Consent, a peer education group focused on sexual wellness. The role takes on responsibilities with the development and implementation of the Yale-NUS Residential Curriculum and training/professional development efforts for the DOS office. Additionally, the role also provides oversight for Housing Operations and Administration at the DOS Office.

Conduct & Dispute Resolution

  • Oversee all dispute resolution processes on campus, including Community Standards violations, Dean’s Committee violations, and management of the Sexual Misconduct investigation and discipline procedures
  • Oversee adaptable resolutions process for students and act as a central resource point that students can access for dispute resolution for any complaints, issues, or disputes
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records for the above processes
  • Recommend revisions/enhancements to the Student Community Standards (i.e., code of conduct) and consult with the College’s legal counsel as necessary
  • Design and implement corresponding assessment practices

Sexual Misconduct

  • Lead campus-wide efforts on the reduction and prevention of sexual misconduct incidents on campus and lead Kingfishers for Consent, a peer education group focused on sexual wellness, including recruitment, training, and programme design
  • Manage and train the Sexual Misconduct Support Team, a group of staff/faculty who are trained in the sexual misconduct policy and are available as support to students
  • Recommend revisions/enhancements to the Sexual Misconduct policy and process
  • Oversee periodic student climate surveys related to sexual misconduct

Training and Development

  • Develop DOS-wide professional development and teambuilding opportunities. Design, implement and assess training programmes for students and staff across the three residential colleges. The training programmes include comprehensive summer training as well as ongoing training through the year for the following groups: i) Residential College Advisors (RCAs) – Student staff, (ii) Residential Life Officers (RLOs) – Full-time live-in professional staff, (iii) Sexual Misconduct discipline process training for Chair people, Investigators and committee members & (iv) General training for the DOS staff team, as needed

Residential Curriculum and Housing Operations

  • Yale-NUS introduced a newly designed residential curriculum in academic year 2020-21 which the Manager will help further refine and assist in implementation.
  • Lead a committee focused on the Community Living and Engagement pillar of the Residential Curriculum that develops strategies for curriculum implementation and work collaboratively with cross-campus partners
  • Oversee residential housing operations, including supervision of the Residential Housing Operations Executive. The Executive oversees room allocations and room draw, coordination of vacation housing administration and operations including move-in/move-out processes throughout the academic year. The Executive also oversees the Dining Experience Team (DXT) which manages the dining experience on campus for students along with a team of Student Associates.
  • The Housing Operations role takes on broader departmental and institutional projects including regular updates to the department’s Business Continuity Plan(BCP), Risk Register, Performance Metrics, COVID-19 related policies and the transition of Housing-related processes to the SalesForce platform.

Requirements
  • Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in higher education or related field
  • Demonstrated experience with housing administration and residential life
  • Strong understanding and familiarity with a residential, liberal arts environment
  • Prior experience working with sexual misconduct investigations
  • Experience supervising both student and professional staff
  • Prior knowledge of conduct adjudication and policy development
  • Strong verbal and written communications
  • Strong analytical/technical skills including the management of data on Excel spreadsheets and Salesforce.
  • Ability to contribute as an individual, as well as a team player
  • Experience in managing student discipline and sexual misconduct processes
  • Ability to design and implement effective residential education training programmes
  • Experience designing residential education programmes
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and projects happening simultaneously
