The NIE Library and Information Services Centre is seeking creative, innovative and service-oriented candidates who are able to work independently and collaboratively in transforming the library for the 21st century.

The position plans, develops and maintains library management systems and digital library services applications to meet the teaching, learning and research needs of the NIE community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, manage, and enhance library services platform, technology-enabled learning spaces, discovery services and related digital library applications.

  • Develop data analytics and reports of data gathered from library systems, web analytics and other sources to support evidence-based decision-making and service improvement.

  • Perform business process reengineering and initiate digitalization projects to automate library operations.

  • Identify, evaluate, and implement appropriate tools and technologies to support new digital library initiatives.

  • Provide training and support to staff and library users on the use of digital library applications and technologies.

Candidate with proven track record may be appointed as team lead for one or more of the key responsibilities.

General and liaison duties

  • Foster communication between the Library and designated Academic Groups.

  • Participate in collection development, including identifying, evaluating, and recommending library resources.

  • Liaise with NIE community to recruit content for the NIE data and digital repository.

  • Communicate, plan, and deliver library events and promotional activities.

  • Provide information desk services on scheduled evenings and weekends.

  • Contribute to library projects, peer training and staff development.

Requirements

  • A University degree and postgraduate qualification in Library and/or Information Science, preferably with a background in library management systems and/or digital library applications.

  • At least 5 years of professional working experience in an academic library setting, with experience in library management systems and/or digital library initiatives.

  • Proficiency in programming methodology, data analysis, data visualisation and/or web design.

  • Knowledge and experience in implementing automation projects using robotic process automation tools will be an added advantage.

  • Good interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and organisational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and innovatively with library colleagues, NIE and external communities.
