The Learning Sciences & Assessment Academic Group (LSA) at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore invites educational practitioners who possess at least a Master's degree with a specialization in Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) to apply for a faculty position on the Lecturer track. Technology-enhanced learning is an important area of teaching and research at the LSA AG. It includes sub-areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education, computer-supported collaborative learning, game-based learning, AR/VR for learning, blended learning, learning analytics, ICT integration in teaching and learning, etc.

The LSA AG is an interdisciplinary academic group that focuses on understanding learning and assessment from multiple perspectives with the ultimate goal of enhancing and ensuring educative outcomes for all learners. Our mission is to enable educational practitioners to become designers of learning experiences and environments and active contributors in a reflective community of practice. The academic group grapples with the tensions and the nexus between learning, assessment, and instructional design, by mediating the design process as both a science and an art. Currently, we offer courses for initial teacher education, as well as graduate programmes such as the Master of Arts (Instructional Design and Technologies), Master of Education (Learning Sciences and Technologies), Master of Arts in Professional Education (Training and Development), Master of Teaching, Master of Science (Science of Learning), Doctor of Education (Technologies and Technology-Mediated Learning Environments) and Doctor of Philosophy (Education).

LSA AG invites applicants with experience in facilitating technology-enhanced learning at the initial teacher education and in-service teacher professional development to apply for the position. Applicants who have extensive school experiences locally and/or in a similar education system are valued. The candidate would play an active role in teaching and managing pre-service teacher education courses and in-service professional development workshops.

Requirements

Successful candidates must have:

  • A Master's degree with a specialization in Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) and related areas. An earned doctorate in a relevant field is preferred
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching
  • Experience in teaching initial teacher education courses and conducting professional development workshops in areas related to Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) at the Primary, Secondary, and Junior College levels. Experience in teaching Virtual Reality (VR)/Augmented Reality (AR), Immersive Learning Environment (ILE), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Education will have an advantage.
  • Experience in reviewing and revising course curriculum at the initial teacher education courses
  • Experience in conducting research in areas related to Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL), and/or producing practice-oriented publications that support Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL)
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written English)
  • Willingness to understand and support the work of colleagues beyond one’s niche expertise

Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected:

  • To teach existing and new courses in the initial teacher education, diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate programmes
  • To conduct professional development workshops for in-service teachers
  • To work with a team of faculty to develop, review and teach courses, and pioneer changes in practices in schools
  • To supervise students during teaching practicum and liaise with schools
  • To establish professional connections with local and international researchers and practitioners in the specific expertise area
  • To publish research in reputable journals or other outlets as is customary in his/her field
  • To share expertise with NIE colleagues through various platforms
  • To contribute to services at the departmental, institutional, university, national and international levels
