Job Description

Yale-NUS College is a highly selective liberal arts and science college in Singapore. Co-founded by Yale University and the National University of Singapore, the College is committed to excellence in research and teaching within a full residential programme that integrates living and learning. Its curriculum educates students in Asian and Western intellectual traditions as well as current scientific thought.

The College is seeking to hire up to two (2) full-time Lecturer positions to support teaching in the Urban Studies Major. Applicants should have expertise in either:

(a) Architecture, Urban Design/Planning, with specific expertise in techniques of representation; or

(b) Social aspects of urbanization from the disciplinary perspective of either Sociology, Geography or related discipline.

Specific expertise in Asian urbanisation is desirable, but not required. These positions are on a two-year contract, starting in the academic year 2022-2023 with possibility of extension of up to one (1) more year, subject to good performance of the incumbent, and the College’s teaching needs. The successful candidate is expected to teach up to five (5) courses in an academic year (2 semesters). Advising students in their Capstone will also be required, as needed.

The College offers competitive salaries that are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 


Qualifications
  • PhD in either Architecture/Urban Planning or Sociology/Geography, or related fields and from a regionally or internationally accredited institution.
  • At least one year of experience in undergraduate teaching
