Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to supports Comparative Medicine (CM) providing exceptional quality animal care and technical support services related to training for all personnel (faculty, researcher, and student) working with animal in research, teaching, and training activities, as part of the National University of Singapore (NUS) animal care and use program.

Assistant Training Coordinator roles are to assist and report to Training Coordinator, responsible primarily for administrative support in training related activities under NUS animal care and use program including RCULA (Responsible Care and Use of Laboratory Animal) training courses, a required by the NACLAR; to assist in coordination, and arrangement of training activities; and potentially in conducting training. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.    Assist in processing training registration and assignment of relevant modules.
2.    Assist in scheduling training classes/ sessions.
3.    Assist in collating and maintaining registration forms and training records, and other relevant documents/ records.
4.    Assist in reviewing protocol and provide recommendation on training requirement 
5.    Assist in issuance of training certificates.
6.    Assist in regular review, revise, or develop new modules or training materials; and/ or implement the new initiative 
7.    Assist in budgeting and purchasing
8.    Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned. 
9.    Depending on the experience and skill, may provide support in training/ teaching and/ or assist in training/ teaching (class and/ or in hands-on) for animal users; or training for trainer. 
 

 


Requirements

Required Qualification:
•    Diploma in Veterinary Technology, Veterinary Bioscience, Biotechnology or equivalent discipline

•    Diploma in learning and development, or equivalent discipline, or
•    Diploma in business, administration, human resources management or equivalent discipline, with experience in training program.  
 

Knowledge and Skill:
•    Must possess  good organizational ability/ skills, effective and excellent communication, and good interpersonal skills 
•    Fluent verbal and written communication in English 
•    A good team player who is willing to accept a changing work environment; and willing to learn.
•    Good knowledge of the NACLAR guidelines, PHS policy, Guide to the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, and other applicable regulations and guidelines governing laboratory animal care and use.
•    Have experience, skill in performing basic/ veterinary technical procedure; and must be willing to learn/ to be be trainned, or to continue to expand/ improve knowledge and skill to perform the             technical procedures in laboratory animals. 

Preferred Qualifications and experience:
•    Excellent knowledge of MS outlook, Excel and Word.
•    Experience with Zoom, Teams, Microsoft Forms and Microsoft Power Platform (part of the Office 365 cloud platform) are a plus.
•    AALAS Certification (e.g. ALAT, LAT, LATG) is an asset and preferred – or to be certified within 1 year of hired
•    Experience working with rodents, rabbits, pigs and/ or aquatics species is preferred 
•    Experience working in the animal care and use program in research/ teaching/ training, in an academic setting is an asset 
•    Experience, ability, and/ or interest to train is an asset 

Other:
•    Able to lift up to 15kg
