Job Description

 

Reporting into the Chief People Officer (CHRO), you will be a key member of the National University of Singapore’s (NUS) HR Leadership Team.  You will work with the Centres of Excellence (COEs), and the HR Shared Services team to drive key HR initiatives to meet the needs of the University.


Your key clientele will be the Deputy President (Administration) and all Corporate Functional Leaders including the Chief Finance Officer, Chief IT Officer, Chief Risk Officer, Chief Legal Officer, and the Senior Vice President (Campus Infrastructure).  You will also partner Academic Function Leaders, including the Head of Admissions, the Registrar, Chief Librarian, and Head of Alumni Relations.


You will strategically partner these leaders to drive Transformation to achieve the Vision of Excellence in University Administration.  You will spearhead People Strategies for these organisations including Talent & Succession Planning, Engagement & Retention, and Organisation Development.

 

  • Lead a team of HR Business Partners to partner with the business to intimately understand the needs of the business and to identify, develop and drive key People Initiatives such as leadership development, talent / performance management, change management, workforce and succession planning, talent acquisition, employee and career development, performance management, and rewards & recognition. 
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with the senior leadership team and the Heads of Units, and other key stakeholders; partner with colleagues inside HR (example COE Teams, Shared Services) and outside of HR (eg. Data Office, Organisational Excellence Transformation Unit) to innovate, enhance, align and drive the effectiveness of HR initiatives.
  • Conduct organisational assessments and develop / drive initiatives to close gaps and implement necessary solutions to ensure a high-performing workforce; provide candid and constructive feedback to leaders about talent moves, gaps, promotions and growth opportunities.
  • Recommend and drive improvements to HR policies, processes and systems.
  • Scans and benchmarks the marketplace to identify and leverage best practices / trends to influence the business and HR agenda.
  • Programme manage the Annual Performance Reviews / Year End Reviews for the Executive and Administrative employees across the University.  This includes working with the Rewards CoE on Salary Reviews and Performance Bonus, managing the calibration sessions at the University-level and support to the Senior Management in the appraisals of their direct reports.
  • Working with the HR Analytics team, drive the programme to manage Headcount for all Executive and Administrative positions across the University.

Qualifications

 

  •     Good degree in any discipline, and with additional HR qualifications.
  •     More than 15 years of HR experience, particularly in HR Business Partnering, Talent Management, Organisation Development.
  •     More than 7 years’ experience leading a HR Business Partner team.
  •     Strong business and HR acumen, including the ability to diagnose and analyse issues and drive appropriate solutions.
  •     Strong senior stakeholder management skills; extensive capacity to influence business leaders; organisational agility and savvy-ness.
  •     Strong influencing and collaborating skills, and the ability to work across the HR Team, and drive a positive work environment for his / her own team. 
  •     Proven successful track record and knowledge in organisational and employee development, talent management, change management, performance management, and employee relations.
  •     Data-oriented decision maker.
  •     Strong communication and inter-personal skills with all levels of employees.
  •     Excellent writing and communications skills.
  •     In tune with latest acquisition trends and technology.
  •     Previous work experience in large / established organisations, and supported a client size of more than 1,000 people.
  •     Experience in business / corporate transformation will be a distinct advantage.
