Job Description

 

The incumbent will oversee the following portfolios in the core team; internal/external engagement; branding and marketing communications; content creation (writing/copyediting for multiple platforms); digital communications; publicity campaigns; logistical support, conceptualising and executing events, and budget management. S/He is expected to be hands-on and to plan and execute multiple communications initiatives.

 

His/her extended role will also be to conceptualise specially targeted events for FASS’ multiple stakeholders ranging from high profile events to engaging targeted publics through marketing outreach initiatives. Working with various internal partners, the incumbent will lead the organising of Faculty-level events and play an advisory role to its 16 departments.

 

As a member of the corporate communications team based in the NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) Dean’s Office, he/she will collaborate with the core team on internal/external communications; branding and marketing communications; content creation; media relations, digital communications; and organising events. S/He is expected to be hands-on and to plan and execute multiple communications initiatives, often in partnership, with both University and Department entities. 

 

His/her mandate will be to lead and manage specially targeted events for FASS’ multiple stakeholders ranging from high profile events to engaging targeted publics through marketing outreach initiatives. Working with various internal partners, the incumbent will lead the organising of Faculty-level events and play an advisory role to its 16 departments.

 

The role will support communications for the College of Humanities and Sciences – an integration of FASS with the Faculty of Science – to offer a new way of teaching, learning and thinking that breaks students out of silos and emphasises the interface and interplay between disciplines. With access to the facilities and courses in both FASS and FOS, students have the freedom and flexibility to explore different subjects and chart their own pathway.
 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a series of innovative events (new, if necessary) to engage our increasingly important stakeholders (e.g. alumni, potential students, and academic partners)
  • Develop and implement a marketing outreach pipeline plan to primary, secondary and high schools in Singapore, and globally.
  • Source for story leads and produce articles for various platforms to achieve Faculty objectives
  • Proven track record in producing creative content such as news stories, press release, videos, photos, infographics, etc. 
  • Support media management; manage media relations/requests; and monitor media 
  • Liaise with external vendors, as necessary
  • Able to use technology to introduce efficiencies in corporate communications processes, and introduce feedback mechanisms to measure campaign success
  • Undertake any other ad hoc related duties as assigned by senior management
     

Qualifications
  • Degree in any discipline (preferably with specialisations in event planning, project management, journalism, digital media, marketing communications). Diploma holders with extensive years of experience will also be considered.
  • Between 2-5 years of work experience, preferably with at least 2 years of relevant in-house or agency experience in areas such as events planning, project management, journalism, media relations, marketing communications, branding, or internal communications 
  • Video-editing, digital storytelling, image/presentation software skills are a bonus
  • Possess strong strategic and analytical thinking skills with a strong understanding of corporate communications practices, content development, promotions and marketing
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, with ability to relate well with people at all levels and good service orientation.
  • Possess a nuanced sense of what constitutes a strong news story and its essential elements.
  • Good project management skills, able to multi-task and work in a diverse and dynamic team environment.
  • Pro-active, quality conscious, attentive to details and results-oriented
