Contract and Licensing Manager (5GTL)

As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. 

As part of the 5G Trans Lab@SIT, the primary responsibility of this role is to support contract and licensing agreement in ICT/5G applied research. In collaboration with IMDA, the Open 5G Translation Lab is a new Technology Innovation Centre set up to address future 5G needs in areas of connectivity, hardware, edge intelligence and security. The Centre aspires to facilitate translation research and innovation with both industry and research ecosystem, as well as validating of use cases by companies and government agencies, leading to co-creation and commercialisation of intellectual properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage overall pipeline, life cycle and workflow of agreements, including but not limited to research/project collaboration, licensing and non-disclosure agreements;
  • Monitor obligations and deliverables of contracts;
  • Review agreement templates and work with industry and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with internal policies, where applicable;
  • Support negotiation and finalization of agreements;
  • Support advisory on Intellectual Property matters;
  • Coordinate with other departments on Intellectual Property related matters and procedures.
  • Refer matters to Legal Division when required and ensure timely completion of agreement.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law/ Master of Science (Intellectual Property Management)/ Master of IP and Innovation Management or equivalent is preferred, or prior experience in IP-related work and possession of good knowledge of Intellectual Property law
  • Hands-on experience in preparing and negotiating legal agreements or commercial contracts
  • Experience in working in an Institute of Higher Learning or a technology industry would be an added advantage;
  • Experience in handling agreements, excellent writing and communication skills, and good interpersonal skills;
  • Meticulous and good record keeping practices;
  • Possess strong analytical skills with a keen eye-for-details;
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team
