Job Description

 

Social Service Research Centre (SSR) at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, National University of Singapore (NUS), would like to invite suitable candidates to apply for a full‐time position as Centre Manager. The appointment will be tenable for two years at the first instance, with the possibility of renewal.

 

Since April 2015, SSR has been creating change through impactful social service research and capability development. We are dedicated to promote and test social innovations and help evolve a new social service infrastructure for Singapore's next phase of social development.  As the only entity dedicated to research on social interventions in Singapore, SSR is the focal point of rigorous applied research, working in tandem with social service leaders in government, civil society, and private philanthropic institutions to critic, test-bed and facilitate large-scale, community-based service innovations through a variety of methods including programme evaluation and social analytics.

 

SSR’s Centre Manager is primarily responsible for the Centre's day-to-day administration & operations, supporting the Centre's full spectrum of research initiatives and engagement programmes.

 

Reporting to the Centre’s Director, the candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

 

  • Oversee and manage operations of the Centre, including project accounts, agreements, office equipment and supplies, and website.

  • Maintain the Centre’s overall budget, and proper financial and administrative records of Centre activities, conferences, projects and initiatives, including grant administration, procurement, project claims, financial records, and annual reports.

  • Manage the administrative process of all Centre appointments. This includes handling appointment advertisements, facilitating candidate selection and facilitating the initial settling-in of new appointees.

  • Provide administrative support to organise conferences, workshops, seminars, training programmes, and other activities of the Centre.

  • Reporting officer to 3 administrative staff.

  • Other related administrative duties assigned by the Director. 


  • Qualifications

     

    The candidate should possess the following:

     

  • A recognized university degree in any discipline. Preference will be given to graduates from the social sciences or business and management.

  • Preferably at least 3 years of relevant working experience. Preference will be given to candidates with direct experience in managing research centres or activities in higher institutions.

  • Ability in finance and accounting.

  • Excellent organizational skills, meticulous, independent, resourceful, and responsible.

  • Able to multi-task, positive work attitude, and good interpersonal skills.

  • Good writing and communication skills, and good command of English.
