As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. 

As part of the 5G Trans Lab@SIT, the primary responsibility of this role is to support the business development in ICT/5G applied research with the industry. In collaboration with IMDA, the Open 5G Translation Lab is a new Technology Innovation Centre set up to address future 5G needs in areas of connectivity, hardware, edge intelligence and security. The Centre aspires to facilitate translation research and innovation with both industry and research ecosystem, as well as validating of use cases by companies and government agencies, leading to co-creation and commercialisation of intellectual properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategies to foster research collaborations with the ICT/5G industry;
  • Support the business development of the Centre by identifying and engaging industry partners and government agencies for research collaborations.
  • Work with academic members of SIT or Institutes of Higher Learnings and deliver the desired outcomes for industry projects.
  • Develop business proposals, budgetary requirements, financial models and cash flow projections for research collaborations;
  • Coordinate and negotiate with industry partners on research funding, deliverables, KPIs and legal agreements;
  • Compile and monitor project progress, outcomes, statistics and KPIs for reporting to stakeholders; 
  • Liaise with funding agencies and SIT Finance on claims;
  • Minute writing for Working and/or Advisory Committee Meetings; and
  • Plan, assist and execute events and activities organized to foster industry collaborations.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum a bachelor degree in Electrical/ Electronics/Communications Engineering/ Computer Science/ Information Technology or related fields
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in business development/ technical sales within ICT industry or in technology sector with strong business acumen
  • Possess good technical skills, be up to date with R&D landscape and industry trends/ needs; 4G/5G-related experience will be an added advantage
  • Confident in engaging industry for both large corporations and SMEs
  • Enjoy working closely with industry, academic staff and students in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong administrative skill
  • A highly motivated individual and a good team player
  • Excellent negotiator and good presentation skills would be advantageous
