Offer Description

The Department of English, Linguistics & Theatre Studies at the National University of Singapore invites exceptional candidates to apply for the position of Presidential Young Professor (PYP) at the rank of Assistant Professor, to commence in January 2025 or July 2025. The PYP scheme targets tenure-track faculty who have completed their PhD in recent years, and who have shown early evidence of a strong publication record (e.g. monographs or book contracts with university presses, and/or articles in top peer-reviewed journals). Theatre and Performance Studies scholars of all research specializations are encouraged to apply.

The PYP scheme offers a start-up research package of up to SGD 750,000, and an award of SGD 250,000 for discretionary spending. Salaries are internationally competitive, with benefits including subsidized housing. The teaching load is 2:1 (one or two courses per semester, totaling three per academic year).
