About the position

The Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT) and the Department of Physics, National University of Singapore (NUS) invite applications for a joint position for the experimental study of cold gases of neutral atoms, as platforms for quantum simulations and computation. CQT and NUS Physics Department are fully committed to improving equity, diversity, and inclusion at NUS and across larger science communities. The position is open at the level of tenure-track. A higher level of seniority may also be considered, offering a tenured position.

 

CQT is the main academic branch of the growing quantum ecosystem in Singapore. It features a unique interdisciplinary profile, covering various experimental platforms for quantum technologies alongside theoretical activity in both physics and computer science. The Department of Physics of NUS, besides quantum technologies, has world-class expertise in condensed matter physics, biophysics, and the physics of materials, among others.

 

The candidate should hold a Doctorate in Physics and have demonstrated outstanding competence in designing and carrying out experiments in cold atomic gases. The successful candidate must also be able to teach effectively at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

 

The remuneration package is internationally competitive, with a flexible wage system, composing of an annual base salary and a performance bonus component for good performers, and attractive work-life benefits such as childcare leave. Faculty members who are not Singapore citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents may receive, in lieu of provident fund benefits, a monthly Special Payment for Foreign staff, and subsidized housing benefits.

 

A start-up package is available for newly recruited faculty members to facilitate the establishment of their research programmes.
