TL@NTU is seeking an experienced candidate to provide effective and excellent services in Facilities and Occupational Health & Safety, ensuring the smooth and safe functioning of all TL@NTU laboratories and offices.
Responsibilities:
- Formulate, implement, and evaluate new and existing health and safety policies, and services for building a strong safety and health culture within TL@NTU and NTU community and ensuring compliance to relevant regulations and NTU expectations.
- Develop, manage and update the health and safety workplan for TL@NTU in line with both TL@NTU and NTU objectives.
- Conduct safety training or identify relevant mandatory and certification training for TL@NTU staff.
- Organise health and safety promotional activities for both offices and laboratory-based facilities for staff and students.
- Lead and manage in developing and implementing safety and health management systems in accordance with NTU health and safety expectations.
- Provide advice to TL@NTU management, staff and students on safety and health issues and ways to eliminate or minimising risks and hazards.
- Liaise with governmental bodies and regulatory agencies on health and safety related matters. Ensure compliance of all operations at TL@NTU Research Centre level with the WSH Act and other statutory requirements. Ensure all required licenses are issued and maintained for the activities.
- Plan and conduct periodical audits and inspections of offices, research laboratories and their supporting facilities.
- Conduct investigations for accidents/incidents that take place in offices and laboratories. Implement necessary measures to prevent recurrence of accidents/incidents.
- Assume the role of secretary in the safety committee and coordinate the activities for the safety committee.
- Assume the role of safety representative / coordinator on behalf of TL@NTU to liaise with NTU counterparts, such as the Office of Health and Safety, for coordination, sharing and distribution of information relating to health and safety matters within NTU.
- Plan, co-ordinate and implement facilities related works for TL@NTU offices and laboratories.
- Liaise with both internal and external contractors on facilities related works for TL offices and laboratories.
- Ensure implementation of maintenance works of TL@NTU’s statutory equipment by TL@NTU laboratory managers on equipment including pressure vessels, boilers, autoclaves, cranes, IR & NIR equipment.
- Ensure implementation of cleanliness & tidiness for TL@NTU office and laboratories – including getting ready seating/cubicles for new staffs, name tag/access card.
- Administer TL@NTU office laboratory access/security and ensure compliance with NTU rules and regulations.
- Other ad-hoc duties as assigned TL@NTU Management.
Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering/ Facilities Management, Building Science with 3-5 years’ experience or Diploma in Engineering with 5-7 years of related experiences in Safety, Health and Facilities Management
- Experience in Workplace Safety in offices and laboratory-based research environment
- Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) would be advantageous.
- Strong experience and knowledge in Workplace Safety, health, including ISO 45001 would be preferred
- Ability to work well under pressure with differing levels of people
