Technology Transfer and Innovation (TTI) at NUS Enterprise is the technology translation and commercialisation arm of the National University of Singapore (NUS). Our dedicated team brings together expertise spanning technical, business, and legal domains, playing a pivotal role in advancing NUS's technology transfer, innovation, and enterprise initiatives.
We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our Compliance team as an Assistant Manager/ Manager.
The successful candidate will support TTI’s intellectual property (IP) management and commercialisation activities by managing compliance-related tasks associated with IP protection, licensing agreements, and more.
Working closely with diverse teams within TTI and the NUS faculty, this role presents an exciting opportunity to leverage and sharpen your financial acumen while developing expertise in tech transfer operations and driving innovation and technology commercialisation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct a comprehensive review of intellectual property-related agreements, such as licensing agreements and joint IP management agreements, to identify and execute compliance-related follow-up actions
- Monitor and liaise with licensees and IP co-owners regarding reporting obligations, ensuring the timely collection of licensing fees and reimbursement of patent costs.
- Proactively monitor and address overdue invoices, implementing instalment payment plans as necessary to assist licensees in settling outstanding amounts.
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely invoicing of external parties for payments due under IP-related agreements, revenue distributions, etc.
- Engage with and respond to queries from inventors, technology managers, and relevant offices on compliance-related matters.
- Perform financial analysis and prepare detailed reports for senior management to inform strategic decision-making.
- Assist in developing, reviewing, and streamlining compliance standard operating procedures (SOPs) in line with existing University policies and guidelines to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of compliance processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance or Business-related discipline.
- At least 3 years of working experience in accounts receivables and collections.
- Prior experience in technology licensing and compliance practice, with the ability to appreciate and interpret agreement terms.
- Familiarity with the patent prosecution process and/or intellectual property (IP) licensing is advantageous.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Working knowledge of an ERP System, preferably SAP.
- Experience with Sophia Knowledge Management System or similar IP and contracts databases is a plus.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude and an effective team player.
- Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and stakeholder management skills.
- Good time management skills with the ability to handle tight deadlines.
