Assistant Director, Strategic Planning & Coordination (Enterprise Risk Management)

To drive and mange Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) across the university as well as contribute to the objectives of the Strategic Planning and Business Continuity and Crisis Management teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with management and key stakeholders to develop and implement the appropriate risk management framework, policies and procedures, taking into account the risk appetite statement approved by the Board of Trustees (BOT).
  • Ensure the University’s risk management strategies and policies are in compliance with the strategic imperatives of the University.
  • Work with clusters and divisions to integrate risk management within the annual planning, budget and any other critical processes.
  • Engage with risk owners and risk champions to facilitate the identification, assessment and management of risks at the strategic (University) and operational (divisional) levels, including divisional-level risk and control self-assessment.
  • Develop and implement a framework to review, monitor and assess the effectiveness of controls / measures to mitigate the identified risks.
  • Facilitate the preparation and update of the risk registers and provide relevant risk reports / dashboards to management, the audit committee and the BOT.
  • Consult with clusters and divisions to maintain a risk universe to form a complete and accurate map of risk exposures.
  • Conduct horizon scanning and identify emerging trends that may impact the strategic direction of the University and provide advisory support to management to proactively identify and effectively respond to emerging /evolving risks arising from internal or external changes or events.
  • Act as risk advisor to clusters and divisions and promote risk awareness and accountability amongst management and staff through risk awareness programmes (trainings, workshops, communications) and sharing of past learnings.
  • Support the ERM Steering Committee in delivering its duties and assessing the effectiveness and adequacy of the University’s risk management.
  • Undertake any other responsibilities / duties as assigned by the divisional head.

    Job Requirements

    • Degree with minimum 12 years of relevant working experience.
    • Proven track record in driving and managing ERM in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong technical skills and qualified knowledge of international risk standards such as COSO ERM Framework and ISO 31000.
    • Experience in strategic planning or business continuity management an added advantage.
