Position Summary:

The Enrichment Program Manager is responsible for developing and managing enrichment programs and initiatives that are aligned with KAUST’s vision and mission. Key among these is the two week-long Winter Enrichment Program (WEP), which is KAUST’s signature global event, providing educational benefits to our students and community and increasing KAUST’s global visibility, as well as supporting in-Kingdom engagement, and student and faculty recruiting.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage and design major academic enrichment programs, built with the Program Chair (a KAUST senior Faculty member) that contribute to KAUST academic and promotional strategies.
  • Work with the Chair of the WEP Selection Committee to sollicit and evaluate proposals, and to develop WEP program of events. Design and develop special programs within WEP and identify high level signature events with the WEP Chair.
  • Identify and champion ideas that may lead to concepts and presentations that promote the strategic aims of the University.
  • Act as the key KAUST point of contact for many of the keynote speakers and other external participants in enrichment programs in terms of identification, invitation, logistics and developing any associated contracts.
  • Ensure all enrichment programs are well visible (internally and externally) and well attended by KAUST community and visitors, in particular In-Kingdom visitors.
  • Develop operational plan for event and coordinate with other organizations, such as Economic Development, Research, Graduate Affairs, Academic Divisions, Government Affairs, Saudi Initiatives, University Relations, Schools and University Development for the implementation of the plan.
  • Recruit and orient volunteers, as needed, to supplement staff.
  • Develop and establish guidelines for supporting new enrichment programs
  • Manage records, evaluate activities and collect statistics for enrichment programs to assess value of the programs.
  • Manage marketing, communications, and website promotion to campus, the community and other audiences, in coordination with the Communications Office.
  • Explore key new initiatives for potential inclusion in University’s enrichment program strategy, such as King Abdulaziz Center For World Culture, art and science programs and TED lecture series.
  • Identify potential local and international corporate sponsors and works with University Development to obtain external funding for enrichment programs
  • Other duties as assigned.

Competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, meet conflicting deadlines and to develop and prioritize complex projects while working under pressure and with attention to detail.
  • Requires a deep knowledge of how universities function and the role enrichment programs serve as a conduit to internal and external engagement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with multi-purpose teams or committees.
  • Demonstrated project management skills. Ability to oversee large projects and groups of individuals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills, including tact, diplomacy, sensitivity and confidentiality.
  • Experience acting independently and engaging global, external participants.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in any related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience with planning and oversight of large events.
  • Significant experience in a university environment.
