Job/Position Summary:

The Data Analyst will be a student data subject matter expert in ensuring the integrity and quality of data, collating data, producing information and providing analysis on our workforce and residents in order to support tactical business decision making and facilitating strategic planning.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Data Governance: Collating, cleansing and verifying sources of student data so it is accessible and trusted for the provision of information and analysis.
  • Producing dashboards and reports – both regular and on-demand – which turn raw data into valuable information for stakeholders as per their requirements.
  • Understand and guide stakeholders on what information may be most useful for them to meet their needs.
  • Investigate and provide information on relevant input vs outcome metrics for various parts of student administration and progression tracking.
  • Understand and provide relevant comparisons and benchmarks which provide context for key metrics.
  • Automate the provision of dashboards, reports and benchmarks as appropriate via appropriate tools.
  • Provide guidance and training to stakeholders as relevant to enable them to use information and insights in their decision making and planning.
  • Provide correlational and predictive analysis which can links different information sources to provide new insights which support and enhance evidence-based decision making and policy formation in areas such as strategic planning, resource allocation, and fiscal management.
  • Present to and lead meetings of stakeholders on the subject of data analytics.
  • Assist the team and other stakeholders in creating the right data analytics infrastructure to enable the RO to provide subject matter expertise value to our customers, including maintaining appropriate backups of data

Competencies:

Technical

  • Data governance: Collating, cleansing and verifying sources of data to ensure its integrity
  • Expertise in managing large databases and using database management software to query and manipulate data.
  • Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis and reporting of complex data sets from multiple sources
  • Expertise in data analysis packages such as Excel and BI tools.
  • Experience in SAP SLCM
  • Experience in providing dashboards and reports to stakeholders
  • Experience in researching and providing information on relevant comparisons and benchmarks
  •  
  • Correlational and predictive analysis using multiple source data sets to provide insights beyond the individual pieces of information
  • Experience in building data analytics infrastructure to support the organizational provision of information

Formal Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree minimum (preferred: Master’s or PhD degree) in statistics/data analysis
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience and success in data reporting and analysis in an academic environment or similar institution.
