The University of St Andrews is seeking to appoint an exceptional Senior Procurement Officer to join its Procurement team.

You will support the Director of Procurement in the day-to-day operations of the Unit in the management of the non-pay spend of the University, provide a procurement service to both internally and externally, in accordance with the Procurement Strategy, and develop the Procurement service at the University.

You will be MCIPS qualified or in the process of achieving this.

A key focus of the role is around sustainability and putting Procurement at the centre of achieving the University’s aim of being Carbon Net Zero by 2035.

To that end you must be a skilled communicator, be able to analyse and interpret data, and be able to drive change in a major institution.

Previous procurement experience (ideally in Higher Education/Public Sector) at a senior level is essential, and an understanding of the landscape and challenges we face around sustainability within the Sector would be highly desirable.

You will be also able to carry out end-to-end procurement projects for goods, services and works; and through in-life contract management techniques identify strategic opportunities that will improve value; cost and enable effective supplier relationships.

The proactive engagement and liaison with stakeholders to positively influence behaviours and the profile of the function are key to the post.
