Senior IT/AV Support Technician - TG1245NB

Updated: almost 2 years ago
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 30 Jun 2022

Start Date: As soon as possible

The University is now looking to add to our current support staff, with the role-holder working five days out of seven (Monday to Sunday), typically working between the hours of 1245 - 2100 hrs, including weekends, to suit the operational needs of the University. Working part of the time outside normal teaching times will give post-holder greater opportunity to carry out room checks, maintenance, installations, and upgrades and to support the increased number of evening and weekend events. The holder however will overlap and work closely with fellow IT/AV colleagues.

Work will include the management of Windows and Apple Mac operating systems, installation of both standardised and bespoke operating and audio-visual system builds, ongoing maintenance and fault finding, together with providing technical support for incidents and problems related to computers, audio visual and telephony equipment.

With an HNC or HND level in Information Technology, Audio Visual or related subject, you will have the necessary technical knowledge, understanding and communication and interpersonal skills to provide advice and support to internal customers on the required technologies.

Experience delivering support in an IT/AV environment will be essential, together with first rate customer focus and initiative and good planning, organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience of working within a Higher Education environment will be an advantage.

Due to the rural location and working patterns of 5 out of 7 days (Monday to Sunday), a full UK Driving licence is required for this role, to suit the operational needs of the University.

Before an appointment can be confirmed, you will be subject to a Basic Disclosure check.

Further information and informal enquiries may be directed to Brenda Dobie, email: [email protected] , Tel: 01334 462534.

Applications are particularly welcome from women, people from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community, and other protected characteristics who are under-represented in technical posts at the University.
