The International Education Institute (IE) at University of St Andrews is recruiting for a part-time (14.5 hours per week/0.4 FTE) Lecturer (Education Focused) in TESOL and International Education. We will consider requests from applicants to fulfil the role remotely, while based elsewhere in the UK. Unfortunately, we are unable to consider applications to fulfil the role while living outside of the UK.

This post provides the opportunity to contribute to IE’s growing postgraduate TESOL and International Education programmes, which include a substantial distance-learning cohort studying at both master’s and doctoral level. There may also be opportunities to take on academic leadership roles within the department, as well as to contribute to other areas of provision.

The intended start date for this position is 5 December 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter.

IE has developed a reputation within the UK and beyond as a centre of excellence for EAP (English for Academic Purposes) teaching, and we host an annual conference of international standing dedicated to this area of practice. Our dynamic and experienced teaching team, which includes recent recipients of McCall MacBain and University of St Andrews Teaching Excellence Awards, are involved in a wide range of educational activities, and we have a strong culture of scholarship and professional development. While this is an education focused post, scholarly activity relevant to learning and teaching is supported financially and factored into workload modelling.

We are seeking practitioners who enjoy taking on new challenges, and who have a strong commitment to both their own and colleagues’ professional development. Full details can be found in the Further Particulars.

Further information and informal enquiries may be directed to the IE Director, Dr Eoin Jordan, email: [email protected]

Applications are particularly welcome from people from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community, and applicants with other protected characteristics that are under-represented in academic posts at the University.

Equality, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of the St Andrews experience.  We strive to create a fair and inclusive culture demonstrated through our commitment to diversity awards (Athena Swan, Carer Positive, LGBT Charter, Race Charters and Stonewall). We celebrate diversity by promoting profiles of BAME, LGBTIQ+ staff and supporting networks including the Staff BAME Network; Staff with Disabilities Network; Staff LGBTIQ+ Network; and the Staff Parents & Carers Network.
