We are looking for a Machine Learning expert who will take part in several research projects at our Faculty. The biggest one is "Promising quantitative technologies in magnetic resonance imaging for determining the stages of inflammation and fibrosis as disease markers." The main goal is to develop quantitative MRI methods and provide translational support for their use in clinical practice. One of the tasks in the project is to develop post-processing methods based on deep learning to derive quantitative metrics from MR images.
Responsibilities:
- leading and organizing work on the implementation of machine learning methods for solving scientific problems in medical diagnostics;
- supervising Master’s students and PhD students;
- publishing scientific papers;
- giving talks at conferences;
- applying for grants, both individually and together with colleagues;
- participation in educational activities;
- active participation in the life of the Faculty, organization of summer schools and events for students and PhD students.
Requirements:
- A PhD degree (or a Russian Candidate of Sciences degree in physics and mathematics or engineering);
- PhD thesis and publication activity in the area of automated image processing and analysis;
- experience in deep learning analysis of medical images (experience of work, for example, with Python and related libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, scikit-image)), and experience of work with MATLAB, R, ITK-SNAP;
- experience of preparing data samples for creating tools based on machine learning methods;
- experience of work in projects/startups related to the application of machine learning in medicine/natural sciences for at least 2 years;
- experience of presenting at conferences;
- recommendations from the leader of the team (where the applicant worked on their PhD thesis, or from the previous job);
- knowledge of English: B2 (Upper-Intermediate) or a higher level;
- information analysis skills and decision-making skills;
- proactive approach;
- well-developed communication skills.

- experience in submitting for grants and managing grants;

- experience of teaching or supervising students in research;
