eBio-hub project

The objective of eBio-hub (Grant agreement 101087007- eBio-hub) is to establish a Center of Excellence in Bioengineering within the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest (POLITEHNICA Bucharest). The goal of eBio-hub project is to unlock and foster excellent research in biomedical engineering, capitalizing the existing knowledge in POLITEHNICA Bucharest and integrating with local research and clinical expertise from University of Bucharest, Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy and local hospitals as well as making use of the state-of-the-art research infrastructure in biomedical engineering (INOVABIOMED) by setting up a strong research group and attracting top academics in the field, rising the competitiveness of POLITEHNICA Bucharest research in the European Research Area (ERA).

eBio-hub will operate as an interdisciplinary research center at the interface between chemistry, biology, IT, micro and nanotechnology and medicine. The project aims to develop micro, nano and bio-integrated solutions that will address major global challenges in the biomedical field. In this context, eBio-hub will increase the attractiveness and impact of the POLITEHNICA Bucharest through research excellence (illustrated quantitatively and qualitatively through indicators such as publications in peer reviewed journals, national and international collaboration or grants). Furthermore, the project will contribute to the growth of Romanian and EU economy by attracting and nurturing research talents, creating portfolios of intellectual property, supporting the local industry or commercializing new technologies.

The Director is expected to manage and conduct the research activity of the center in the following fields:

1. molecular diagnostics,

2. nanomedicine

3. transdermal drug delivery

4. e-Tattoo

Rights and responsabilities:

1. to ensure the framework for carrying out scientific research and development activities, according to above mentioned fields

2. to collaborate with the internal structures of the university to fulfil its strategic objectives;

3. to identify and attract funding sources for the Center activity;

4. to develop the center’s collaborative relationships with partners from the socio-economic environment and with research entities at national and international level;

5. to represent, personally or by delegate, the center’s interests in relations with organizations and economic operators, as well as with natural persons from the country and abroad;

6. to establishe the attributions, competences and mode of collaboration at the level of the center, as well as their relations with third parties;

7. to seek to attract high-quality human resources for the implementation and/or development of the center’s research directions;

8. to propose the appointment and/or revocation of research team leaders (Group Leaders), if necessary;

9. to propose to the Board of Administration of the University the modification of the organizational and functional structure of Center;

10. to propose the Coordinating Council to withdraw membership of Center;

11. can delegate part of his duties to the deputy directors or one of the leaders of the center's research teams;

12. to select the members of the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB);

13. to exercise other duties within the Center that are delegated by the University's Administrative Council.
