Offer Description

The Institute of Biological Research (ICB) Cluj offers 5 full-time research positions in the field of experimental food web research in mesocosms. They will be funded for 2 years, starting on July 2024. The selected people will be employed in the project "Predictive food web models for aquatic ecosystems" (PredAqua), funded by the Romanian Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitalization (PNRR/2022/C9/MCID/I8).

Job description

The new employees will work in the "Predictive food web models for aquatic ecosystems" project, in the team led by Dr. Ferenc Jordán, composed of 9 scientists. The main objective of the project is to construct, describe and maintain multi-species freshwater communities and to test how various ecosystem models predict key organisms and key interactions in these communities. We are looking for:

 

  • One postdoc position on experimental phytoplankton research.
  • One postdoc position on experimental zooplankton research.
  • One postdoc position on statistics, database management and network analysis.
  • One PhD position on experimental phytoplankton research.
  • One PhD position on ecological modelling.

Mandatory minimum requirements:

  • Good written and oral English.
  • Basic courses taken in ecology.
  • Experimental or computational skills.
