Brief Description of DI :

The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) was founded in Qatar in 2015 as a Doha-based independent institution of higher education. The Institute offers MA and PhD programs in two schools: the School of Social Sciences and Humanities and the School of Economics, Administration and Public Policy. Brief Description of Program :

The Sociology and Anthropology Program aims to provide graduate level students with theoretical, research, and methodological training in the fields of sociology and anthropology covering multiple critical schools of thought and their developments in these fields. The Program focuses on the relationships between local Arab and global contexts, providing students with the opportunity to engage with each level separately and comparatively. This training allows students to produce knowledge about contemporary Arab social issues and the world within a global context. 

Job Summary :

The Sociology and Anthropology Program invites applications for a visiting professor in Anthropology for the Spring 2024 term. The successful candidate must have completed a PhD Anthropology. A proven teaching at graduate studies level and research experience in the Anthropology of the Arab world is preferred.

The visiting professor will teach two elective courses in cultural or social Anthropology and will give a general lecture in the program's seminar. In addition, it is expected of them to participate on the academic activities of the program, the school, and the institute. 

Main Responsibilities :

  • To teach two elective courses in Anthropology.
  • To give a lecture at the program's seminar.
  • To participate in the program's academic activities. 

Qualification, Experiences and Skills :

  • PhD in Cultural/Social Anthropology.
  • Proven experience in teaching graduate students.
  • High proficiency in Arabic.
