Offer Description

A position to a Technician with Master Degree (Reference REQUIMTE 2024-17) is available at Requimte, funded by the project “Incidence, bioavailability and mitigation strategies for mycotoxins in farmed fish and feeds: Gilthead seabream as case study”, with reference PTDC/CVT-CVT/2660/2021, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P./MCTES through national funds.

 

Type of contract: work contract for a non-fixed term

Starting date: June 2024

Scientific area: Food Chemistry

Monthly salary: Level 15 of the Consolidated Table of Allowances (TRU) 1.333,35 € before tax.

Applicable Legislation: Portuguese Labour Code, approved by Law 7/2009 of February 12, in its actual form.

 

Job description:

The work plan includes i) the quantification of mycotoxin in seafood and feed products and ii) the optimization of a method for the in vitro evaluation of mycotoxins bioaccessibility in fishes.

Admission requirements:

  • Master Science Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Food chemistry or other chemistry related Master courses.
  • Master Science Degree final grade superior or equal to 15 (in the scale 0-20 values).
  •  

    The candidate should be able to work well within a team and have excellent English and communication skills. Furthermore, it is expected that the candidate possesses strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, along with experience in chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis and cell culture techniques. Experience in transport assays and toxicological interactions of food contaminants and statistical treatment is equally intended.

    In case the Master degree was awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of August 16th, and all formalities established therein must be complied with at the signature of Fellowship contract.

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Work place

    Work will be mainly conducted at the Laboratory of Bromatology and Hydrology from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto, under the scientific supervision of Prof. Doctor José Fernandes and Doctor Sara C. Cunha.

     

    Selection criteria

    Global scientific coherence of the CV – 40%

    Competence in:

    Mass spectrometry analysis – 20%

    Cell culture - 20%

    Transport assays and toxicological interactions – 5%

    Computational statistical – 5%

     

    Letter of motivation – 10%

     

    Only candidates who obtain a classification equal to or greater than 50% in the parameters indicated above will be eligible.

    In the case of admitted candidates whose evaluation does not differ more than 10% from that obtained by the best positioned candidate, the jury will interview the best positioned candidate and the candidates in this situation.

    The final score of each jury member is obtained by the following assessment: 70% scientific and curricular career evaluation and 30% interview.

    Results announcement
