Overview

The Medical Devices Research Group is focused on the development of technologies for the understanding and diagnosis of diseases in close collaboration with the clinic towards the realisation of precision medicine.

We are looking for an experienced Staff Researcher to join our team and strengthen our activities in the field of microfluidics, cell manipulation and organ-on-a-chip.

Job Duties

The job duties will be the following:

1.  Integrate ongoing research projects in the fields of microfluidic cell sorting, microfluidic cell proliferation, single-cell monitoring, cell encapsulation, integration of microfluidic modules, and organ-on-a-chip.

2.     Report and disseminate research activities and results in research papers and scientific conferences.

3.     Prepare project documentation including deliverables, reports and presentations.

4.   Coordinate the execution of the technical deliverables of projects, in collaboration with partners

5.    Supervision of master and PhD students.

MandatoryQualifications

Education

  • PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biology, Biophysics, Biochemistry, or other related fields.

Experience

  • Over 4 years’ of relevant postdoctoral experience in the field.

  • Over 5 years’ experience in design and fabricationof microfluidic devices.

  • Over 5 years’ experience in handling and sorting cells using microfluidics.

  • Over 3 years’ experience in cell-based 3D in vitro models.

  • Experience in the integration of electronic and sensing components in microfluidics.

  • Experience in cancer research and cell biology.

  • Experience in funding attractionand international projects, grants and fellowships.

  • Experience supervising students.

  • Experience in laboratory management.

  • Experience in working with international and cross-functional teams.

  • Experience in publishing at the international level in high impact factor journals in the field.

Technical Skills

  • Cleanroom microfabrication techniques and rapid prototyping.

  • CAD software for 2D and 3D design.

  • Integration of sensors in microfluidics.

  • Small equipment prototyping.

  • Cell sorting.

  • Fluorescence microscopy.

  • Cell culture, patient samples.

  • Cell and molecular biology, immunocytochemistry.

  • Data analysis and statistics.

Other Skills
