A position is being opened for a Research Grant (BI) for Graduate within the scope of the Project no. POCI-01-0145-FEDER-031671 with the designation “StoSS - Sectorization to Simplify and Solve” from CEOS.PP - Centre for Organizational and Social Studies of P.Porto, financed by ERDF funds via the Operational Programme for Competitiveness and Internationalization COMPETE2020, and by Portuguese national funds via FCT/MCTES, under the following conditions:

  • ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
  • Required requirements:

  • Academic studies in Engineering, Economics, Management, Business Sciences, Informatics, Mathematics, or related area;
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a final average mark of 12 (out of 20) or higher;
  • High skills in organizational and team work;
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Preferential factors:

  • Candidates who are experienced in the writing of scientific articles are preferred.
  • Candidates with knowledge in the indicated area are preferred.
  • Candidates with knowledge of any object-oriented programming language are preferred.
  • WORK PLAN
  • Collaborate on the work plan of the project "StoSS - Sectorization to Simplify and Solve" of CEOS.PP - Centre for Organizational and Social Studies of P.Porto, namely:

  • Literature collection and review;
  • Knowledge structuring in terms of sectorization problems, existing approaches, used criteria and potential applications.
  • The objective of the project “StoSS” is the broad study of Sectorization Problems (SP) and the development of a decision-making support system that enables the decision making process related to sectorization.

    SPs often arise related to geographical issues when dividing a large region into smaller regions following specific conditions. Examples of this are the division of a region into political districts, sales territories or health care and policing areas, municipal solid waste collection or street cleaning, schools location and maintenance operations.

  • APPLICABLE LEGISLATION AND REGULATIONS
  • Law no. 40/2004, of August 18, amended and republished by Decree-Law no. 202/2012, of August 27, and amended by Decree – Law no. 233/2012, of October 29, and Decree-Law no. 89/2013, of July 9, and Law no. 12/2013, of January 29; “Despacho P.Porto / P-086/2018” - Grants for Advanced Training Regulation of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto; Research Grants Regulation of FCT, I.P., as approved by Regulation no. 234/2012, of June 25, amended and republished by Regulation no. 326/2013, of July 27, and amended by Regulation no. 339/2015, of June 17, and Regulation no. 137-A/2018, of 27 February.

  • SCIENTIFIC SUPERVISION AND PLACE OF WORK
  • The work will be developed at CEOS.PP - , in Porto Accounting and Business School (ISCAP) of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto, under the scientific supervision of Prof. Isabel Cristina Lopes

  • DURATION AND ACTIVITY SCHEME
  • A 3-month grant contract, which may be renewed for equal periods, up to a maximum of 12 months, on an exclusive basis, in accordance with the applicable regulations.

  • VALUE OF MONTHLY MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE
  • The amount of the research grant is €745.00 (seven hundred and forty-five euros), paid monthly, plus a voluntary social insurance reimbursement (a variable amount depending on the Social Supports Indexing), in accordance with the regulations, and according to the Grants for Advanced Training Regulation of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto, as approved by “Despacho P.Porto / P-086/2018” of September 24, and to the internal communication-proposal from 22/10/2018. The suitable amount to support the costs for 2018 has been entered in ISCAP’s Operating Budget for 2018, group 04, economic classification heading no. 040802B000, and funding source no. 443.

  • SELECTION METHOD AND COMPOSITION OF THE JURY
  • The selection method to be used will be in accordance with the following criteria and respective valuations:

  • Academic curriculum relevant to the area in the announcement, valued from 0 to 20 (weighting 35%);
  • Suitability of the candidate’s Scientific Field specialization to the activity to be performed, valued from 0 to 20 (weighting 25%);
  • Professional experience, valued from 0 to 20 (weighting 10%);
  • Interview, valued from 0 to 20 (weighting 30%);
  • Candidates may be excluded on the following grounds:

  • They do not have the mandatory requirements as stated in section 2 of the grant announcement;
  • Their score is below 9.5 in any of the evaluation components and they will, therefore, be excluded from the procedure and will not be evaluated in the following component(s);
  • They have failed to appear at the interview or have shown unwillingness/unavailability to provide further clarifications that have been requested, which will be deemed equivalent to the candidate’s withdrawal.

  • FORM OF PUBLICATION / NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS
  • The results of the grant award will be communicated to the candidates electronically via e-mail.
