Offer Description

A call is open for the allocation of 1 (one) research fellowship for a Master's student or Bachelor's enrolled in a non-degree course, within the R&D Project "Pilots for Healthy and Active Ageing (PHArA-ON)”, co-financed by the European Union through the Horizon 2020 framework, contract number: 857188, taking place at the Universidade da Beira Interior, Covilhã (Portugal), under the following conditions:

Scientific Area: Computer Science Engineering

Objectives:

The work plan includes scientific and technological research tasks carried out to research on software engineering in the context of Information Systems.

Work plan:

The selected candidate will participate in the development of the following tasks: (1) Python programming; (2) research and development of algorithms to monitor and predict relevant events in the abovementioned scientific areas; (3) V&V of the developed algorithms; (4) elaboration of scientific reports and articles and dissemination of the results in national and international scientific events and (5) cooperation in the development.

Workplace and Scientific supervision:

The work will be developed at the Department of Computer Science of the Universidade da Beira Interior, Covilhã, Portugal, under the scientific supervision of Doctor Nuno Pombo.

Fellowship duration and conditions:

The scholarship is expected to start in december 2023 and end on 30/11/2024.

The activity will take place on an exclusive dedication basis, according to the RBIUBI.

. Declaration of honour from the candidate stating, that he/she meets the conditions for being award the scholarship BI according to Article 6 of the RBIUBI.

BIs awarded to graduates who are enrolled in courses that do not confer an academic degree can only be awarded to those who do not exceed, with the conclusion of the fellowship contract in question, including any renewals, the accumulated period of two years in this type of fellowship, followed or interpolated.

The proof of registration in a cycle of studies leading to the MSc. Degree or in a non-degree course is required for the fellowship contractualization.

Benefits

A monthly maintenance allowance will be granted in accordance with the Annex I of the RBIUBI, with the amount of € 930,98 according to the updated values that can be consulted at https://www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas .  The fellowship holder will have a personal accident insurance and can choose to be covered by the voluntary social insurance. These values will be added to the amount of monthly maintenance allowance.

The monthly amount shall be rendered payable via bank transfer to an account held by the grantee.

Selection process

The selection methods to be used will be composed of 2 evaluation phases, according to the following: 1st phase - Curricular evaluation; 2nd phase – Interview, to the top 5 candidates, which can be performed via videoconference.

The evaluation in the 1st phase includes the following criteria: Curriculum vitae/Academic evaluation (45%); Suitability of the candidates’ profile to the project based on the relevant work experience in the tasks described in the work plan (45%); Fluency in oral and written English (10%).

The 5 candidates that present the highest scores after the 1st phase will pass to the 2nd phase.

For the final evaluation, each of the evaluation phases have an assessment of 50%.

Complaint and Appeal Procedures:

After communication of the provisional lists of the results in the different phases of the selection process (Admission and Exclusion, Curricular Evaluation and Interview), the candidates have 10 working days to pronounce their disagreement, under the terms of article 121 and the Código do Procedimento Administrativo. If any allegations are presented, the final decision will be issued after the analysis of the statements presented during the prior hearing of interested parties. After the statutory deadline of 10 working days, the proposal for the final classification and ranking of the candidates becomes definitive.
