A call is open for the allocation of 1 (one) research fellowship for students enrolled in a cycle of studies leading to a master degree or graduates enrolled in a non-academic degree course (BI) within within the R&D Project “DeepNeuronic”, co-financed by the Portugal 2020 Program (PT 2020), in the framework of the Regional Operational Program of the Center (CENTRO 2020) and the European Union through the Fundo Europeu de Desenvolvimento Regional (FEDER), taking place at the SOCIA Lab. of the Department of Computer Science of the University of Beira Interior - http://socia-lab.di.ubi.pt , under the following conditions:

Research Field: Machine Learning and Computer Vision

Objetives:

This work aims to study, develop, and implement existing and new mechanisms and techniques that allow to reduce the size, accelerate inference time, and optimize the computational power of video-based deep learning models.

Work plan:

-Study of deep learning model optimization frameworks;

-Conceptualization of new processes to optimize deep learning models applied to video

analysis;

-Development, implementation and test of deep learning-based solutions for video

understanding at pixel-level;

-Writing of a technical report, describing all the work carried out in the scope of the

dissertation.

Work location:

The work will be developed at the SOCIA-LAB, Department of Computer Science, University of Beira Interior, R. Marquês D’Avila e Bolama, 6200-001 Covilhã under the scientific supervision of Doctor João Neves ([email protected] ).

Fellowship duration and conditions:

The fellowship is expected to start in October 2022 and ends on 30/06/2023 (current project end date).

The activity is in regime of exclusive dedication in accordance with the .

The fellowship can be renewed, with a favorable opinion from the supervisor, for a total duration of 12 months if the funding entity authorizes the extension of the project's end date.
