Introduction

Are you looking to be a researcher working in the Nanochemistry area? Would you like to be a key player in nanomaterials synthesis and coatings?

INL is seeking 2 Research Fellows (PostDoc) to work on the preparation of nanomaterials with controlled morphology and in the development of functional coatings with e.g. self-cleaning and thermal management properties. The selected researchers will collaborate with the academic and industrial partners of the project and are expected to deliver solutions that are applicable in the industry.

Job Role & Key Responsibilities

The Research Fellows will undertake the following main activities and responsibilities:

  • Synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials
  • Formulation of paints with the prepared nanomaterials
  • Characterization of coatings

Job Requirements

Candidates should meet the following requirements:

Qualifications

PhD Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or similar.

Experience and Technical Skills

  • Relevant experience in nanomaterial synthesis and characterization;
  • Strong background in coatings, with experience in nanomaterials and additives for industrial coatings;
  • Solid knowledge and hands-on experience of materials and surface characterization techniques, such as XRD, XPS, ICP, DLS, SEM, Raman, N2 physisorption and TGA;
  • Excellent track-record of productive research demonstrated by publications in leading scientific journals;
  • Good project management skills;
  • Strong literature and patent searching skills;
  • Knowledge of lab safety;
  • Experience of working in international and interdisciplinary teams.

Note: Candidates should not have a labour contract with INL during the 12 months before the application.

Languages

Excellent communication skills in English are required since it’s the working language of INL.

Supervision

The work plan will be developed at the INL under the scientific guidance of Dr. Juliana Sousa.

Duration of the contract

The total duration of the employment contract shall be 19 months and may be renewed based on the performance of the individual and the duration of the project.
