Overview

The Theory of Quantum Nanostructures RG is dedicated to Curiosity Drive Research on electronic, magnetic and light-matter interaction of Quantum Nanostructures, with special emphasis on the quantum properties of two-dimensional systems. We are looking for a qualified research fellow with previous training on theoretical condensed matter physics and theoretical nano-optics, with special emphasis on light-matter interaction in excitons, and exciton-polaritons in low-dimensional systems, to join our team under the Adaptation Pathfinder Project funded by the European Commission, with the code 101129661.

Job Duties

The job duties will be the following:

  • Detailed review of recent literature on excitons in J-aggregates films;
  • Formulation of the problem of exciton dynamics in second quantisation;
  • Quantum description of the optical response of J-aggregates thin films due to exciton formation;
  • Clarification of the nature of the excitons in J-aggregates films on which concerns their Frenkel or Wannier nature;
  • Application of the Hopfield method for the description of exciton-polaritons in J-aggregates;
  • Theoretical light-matter interaction description of heterostructures and cavities composed of J-aggregates films;
  • Theoretical study of excitons in composite structures made of J-aggregates films and nano-particles;
  • Theoretical description of energy transfer between idealised two-level systems in the presence of J-aggregates films;
  • Participate in outreach activities;
  • Disseminate scientific results in international scientific events.
