Overview
The Nanostructured Materials Research Group is dedicated to investigating fundamental aspects and dynamic phenomena at the atomic scale employing advanced electron microscopic techniques.
We are looking for a qualified Research Fellow to join our team in the project “Production of Sodium-Ion Based Structural Batteries”, under the PRR framework, under the New Generation Storage Agenda.
Job Duties
The job duties will be the following:
- Cryo-TEM/STEM characterisation of beam sensitive materials;
- Preparation of samples by conventional and cryo-based techniques;
- Dissemination of the work in international conferences;
- Publishing in high impact journals;
- Preparing technical and progress reports.
Mandatory Qualifications
Education
- PhD in Materials Science, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Electron Microscopy, Physics and Chemistry.
Experience and Technical Skills
- Use of cryo-TEM/STEM for imaging beam sensitive materials;
- Electron diffraction and spectroscopic techniques including EELS and EDS;
- Cryo-sample preparation and conventional sample preparation techniques;
- Writing project reports, publishing in high impact journals and adhering to strict deadlines.

- Aberration corrected TEM/STEM and spectroscopic techniques;
- TEM/STEM image processing, simulations and modelling.

- Good communication skills.
