Overview

The IMiNa RG is dedicated to the development of new MEMS solutions based on silicon and flexible substrates sensors and their integration into functional prototypes.

We are looking for 2highly-qualified, self-motivatedResearch Fellows to join our team in the development ofnew MEMSsensors under the project next Sense in collaboration with Bosch Car Multimedia Portugal, S.A., including MEMS inertial sensors to achieve high sensitivity across an extended bandwidth and redundant and reliable MEMS sensors for brake-by-wire systems.

Job Duties

The job duties will be the following:

1.     Design and model (analytic, FEM) MEMS devices (in particular electrical and mechanical domains);

2.     Design the masksfor fabrication and fabrication follow-up;

3.     Laboratory characterization of sensor devices (electric, mechanical, thermal…);

4.     Create scientific documents of the developments (reports, scientific articles,…).

MandatoryQualifications

Education

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics Engineering or other related field.

Experience

  • Experience in MEMSdevice development (including PhD or post doctoral work);
  • Experience in mask/layout design using CAD and process design tools.

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge on MEMS modelling/simulation approaches (analytical and/or finite element modelling), using simulation software (Matlab/Simulink, Mathematica, COMSOL, ANSYS…);
  • Knowledge on mask/layout development using CAD and process design tools;

  • Knowledge onMEMS microfabrication processes (e.g. SOI-based bulk micromachining);

  • Knowledge on transduction mechanisms (e.g. capacitive transduction).

Other Skills

  • Grant and report writing;
  • Good track record of disseminating research results to the scientific community.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience on laboratorial characterization is valued (electrical/mechanical);
  • Previous experience in cleanroom processing is valued;

  • International mobility experience is valued.
