Overview
The IMiNa RG is dedicated to the development of new MEMS solutions based on silicon and flexible substrates sensors and their integration into functional prototypes.
We are looking for a highly-qualified, self-motivated Research Engineer to join our team in the development of new application driven MEMS sensors under several projects, to support microfabrication activities (including silicon-based and flexible substrates) including MEMS inertial sensors and thin-film sensors.
Job Duties
The job duties will be the following:
Mandatory Qualifications
Education
- MSc in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics Engineering or other related field, is required.
Experience
- Experience in MEMS device modelling (structural, electrical and fluidic domains);
- Experience in mask/layout design using CAD and process design tools;
- Experience in MEMS and thin-film microfabrication in cleanroom environment (inc. SOI-based micromachining).
Technical Skills
- Knowledge on MEMS modelling/simulation approaches (analytical and/or finite element modelling), using simulation software (Matlab/Simulink, Mathematica, COMSOL, ANSYS…);
- Knowledge on mask/layout development using CAD and process design tools;
Other Skills
- Experience in report writing;
- Experience in disseminating research results to the scientific community.
Preferred Qualifications
Education
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics Engineering or other related field, is required.
Experience
- Previous experience on inertial and optical MEMS development;
- Previous experience on laboratorial characterization (electrical/mechanical/optical);
- Knowledge on transduction mechanisms (e.g. capacitive transduction);
- International mobility experience.

How the Selection Process works
A. Applications eligibility check

The question based interview will evaluate the match between the candidate’s profile and the requirements for the position, including the technical and personal skills. To better support this stage, the candidate may be requested to prepare a short presentation.
D. Nomination
The selected candidate will be nominated and formally offered the position, including the disclosure of the contractual conditions.
