Overview

The IMiNa RG is dedicated to the development of new MEMS solutions based on silicon and flexible substrates sensors and their integration into functional prototypes.

We are looking for a highly-qualified, self-motivated Research Engineer to join our team in the development of new application driven MEMS sensors under several projects, to support microfabrication activities (including silicon-based and flexible substrates) including MEMS inertial sensors and thin-film sensors.

 

Job Duties

The job duties will be the following:

  • Design and model (analytic, FEM) MEMS devices (in particular electrical and mechanical domains);
  • Design the masks for fabrication and fabrication follow-up;
  • Laboratory characterisation of sensor devices (electric, mechanical, thermal…);
  • Documentation of the developments (e.g., reports, runsheets).

    Mandatory Qualifications

    Education

    • MSc in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics Engineering or other related field, is required.

    Experience

    • Experience in MEMS device modelling (structural, electrical and fluidic domains);
    • Experience in mask/layout design using CAD and process design tools;
    • Experience in MEMS and thin-film microfabrication in cleanroom environment (inc. SOI-based micromachining).

    Technical Skills

    • Knowledge on MEMS modelling/simulation approaches (analytical and/or finite element modelling), using simulation software (Matlab/Simulink, Mathematica, COMSOL, ANSYS…);
    • Knowledge on mask/layout development using CAD and process design tools;

    Other Skills

    • Experience in report writing;
    • Experience in disseminating research results to the scientific community.

     

     

    Preferred Qualifications

    Education

    • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics Engineering or other related field, is required.

    Experience

    • Previous experience on inertial and optical MEMS development;
    • Previous experience on laboratorial characterization (electrical/mechanical/optical);
    • Knowledge on transduction mechanisms (e.g. capacitive transduction);
    • International mobility experience.

    • Strong motivation to work both independently and as part of a team in an interdisciplinary environment, with the ability to pay close attention to detail and to meet deadlines;
    • Team work spirit;
