Applications are open for Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship, within the framework of project/ project SAFENET – Seismic risk Assessment For transportation NETwork, 2022.07628.PTDC, financed by national funds through FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC

Workplan: Integration in the SAFENET project team – Seismic Risk Assessment for Transportation Network, in which different methodologies will be developed for the impact assessment of seismic events in the road network and building portfolio. The scholarship holder activities will be focused on the development of seismic fragility and vulnerability curves, considering not only ground motion but also secondary hazards such as landslide and liquefaction. In this task machine learning methods will be explored and developed for the automatic classification of buildings and other structures that integrate the transportation network of the country. The methodologies to be developed will be applied in the context of two case studies, one at the urban level which includes the Lisbon Metropolitan Area and the second that covers the southern part of the country.

Duration: The research fellowship(s) will have the duration of 12 months. It’s expected to begin in May 2024, and may be eventually renewed up to the maximum of 12 months

Benefits

Monthly maintenance allowance: According to the values for Research Fellowships awarded by FCT in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_atualizacao-2024.pdf ), the amount of the monthly maintenance allowance is € 1801, being the payment method an option of the Fellow by Wire Transfer/Check

Selection process

Selection methods: The selection methods will be the following: Curriculum evaluation and individual interview to the three best candidates after the curriculum evaluation, with the respective weight of 70% for curriculum evaluation and 30% for the individual interview.

Composition of the selection Jury: Professor Luís Guerreiro, Professora Rita Bento, Professor Jorge Miguel Proença.

Announcement/ notification of the results: The final evaluation results will be communicated to all applicants by email.

Deadlines and procedures of complaint and appeal . A complaint may be lodged from the final decision within 15 working days, or an appeal to the Executive Board of IST-ID within 30 working days, both counted from the respective notification
